Lisa Warner and Linda Harris are the grants and contracts officers with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. They work with CALS faculty, staff, and the Office of Sponsored Programs to provide administrative guidance for individual faculty and administrative staff in development of proposals for external research funding. They process, evaluate and analyze proposals to sponsors such as U.S. Department of Agriculture, New York State, National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, etc.
Warner and Harris ensure compliance with sponsor requirements, government regulations, and University policies. They have signature authority for most proposals. Warner and Harris also maintain regular personal or electronic contact with potential sponsors to obtain information regarding potential funding opportunities. They evaluate these opportunities and develop imaginative electronic web-based database and delivery systems to notify faculty.
All proposals must be submitted to a sponsor via Warner or Harris. Faculty submitting a proposal need to inform their grant and contract officer of that intention at least one week in advance of the submission date. In advance of the submission date, Warner or Harris will review a draft for compliance with Cornell and sponsor guidelines.
A list of the division of Warner's and Harris' responsibilities is available if you are unsure who to work with on a grant or contract.
