Director of Graduate Studies for BMCB Volker Vogt -- 607.255.2443
Students receive stipends and tuition support from a variety of sources, including Cornell University fellowships, teaching assistantships, traineeships funded by our National Institute of Health Predoctoral Training Grant in Cellular and Molecular Biology, and research assistantships funded by individual laboratories.
Students making satisfactory progress in academic, research and teaching pursuits receive full financial support including tuition fellowships or waivers and a 12 month stipend. These are all unrestricted as to the nationality of the recipient. Our current (2007-2008) twelve month stipend level is $26,667, including support for the summer. This is an amount that has increased every year over the past five years and is likely to do so again in future years. For qualified U.S. nationals, support is also available at the same levels from an NIH Training Grant. In addition, funds are available from both the Graduate School and from faculty advisors for students to present their work at national meetings.
The graduate program also pays the complete cost of student health insurance. Supplemental family health insurance, dental, and vision insurance is also available for the students to purchase.
The Program in BMCB is concerned that students should not suffer due to unexpected financial demands. The Program has available funds to lend students on a short-time basis to cover emergencies.
