Polytene Immunofluorescence
A spread polytene chromosome stained with antibodies (immunofluorescence) against two different protein factors, pseudocolored red and green. Areas of colocalization of the two proteins appear yellow.

A time lapse multiphoton microscopy movie of fluorescently tagged HSF protein relocalization over the course of a heat shock. Under non heat shock conditions, the protein mainly localizes to the nucleoplasm. After the heat shock stimulus is applied, the proteins bind DNA and localize to many bands on the chromosomes.

A time lapse multiphoton microscopy movie of fluorescently tagged Rpb3 protein (a subunit of Pol II) relocalization over the course of a heat shock. Under non heat shock conditions, Pol II can be seen at many developmental puffs. After the heat shock stimulus is applied, polymerase is strongly recruited to heat shock loci, shown here, the 87AC loci where the hsp70 genes are found.
