Brown Lab News:
Former graduate student, Dr. Marie E. Bechler, published a recent paper in The Journal of Cell Biology showing how a phospholipase called PAFAH Ib is involved in Golgi membrane tubule formation. Her work further reveals that this function in generating membrane tubules is important for maintaining the Golgi structure in addition to secretion of transport cargo. The paper can be viewed here.
Additionally, the Brown Lab also has a new paper showing how phospholipase 2 (PLA2) activity plays a role in membrane tubule formation and trans-Golgi network trafficking in the journal, Traffic. This paper is authored by Dr. John A. Schmidt, another former graduate student. The paper can be viewed here.
